EFFECT OF LEAD ON MEIOTIC MATURATION AND IVF OF MOUSE OOCYTE

  • Objective:To study the effect of lead on the mouse fertility. Methods:The meiotic maturation and IVF of mouse oocytes were studied with Pb(NO 3) 2 using in vitro culture and in vitro fertilization(IVF) of mouse oocyte. Results:The results showed that lead could significantly reduce the number of superovulation oocytes, the rates of IVF and the quality and viability of mouse oocyte, inhibit the meiotic maturation and the extruding of the first polar body of mouse oocytes, though there were little impact on the GVBD. The results also showed that the extruding of the first polar body and IVF rates may be increased obviously by the culture of oocytes and the rate of IVF in normal culture medium. Conclusion:The results indicated that lead may be hazardous to the process of meiotic maturation and may affect the reproduction of mouse, reduce the fertility and reproduction ability.
