DETECTION OF TRICHOMONAS VAGINALIS ANTIGEN BY DOT-ENZYME LINKED IMMUNOSORBENT ASSAY

  • A Dot-enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (Dot-ELISA) was developed for the detection of Trichomonas vaginalis antigen and compared for sensitivity, specificity and positive retes with wetfilm examination and culture. Of the specimens form 101 women testeds, 14 (13. 9 % ) were positive for T vaginalis by Dot-ELISA, 11 (10. 9% ) by wet film, 12 (11- 9 % ) by culture. Taken culture as the reference method, the Dot-ELISA had a sensitivity of 91. 7% and a specificity of 96. 0 %.
