Visual analysis of research hotspots in the treatment of abdominal infection by antibiotics based on CiteSpace and VOSviewer

  • Objective To perform literature measurement and visualization analysis for the treatment of abdominal infection with antibiotics in recent years based on CiteSpace, VOSviewer and other software.
Methods The literatures in the treatment of abdominal infection with antibiotics in Web of Science (WOS) database in the past ten years were searched, and countries, institutions, journals, authors, keywords of the literatures were analyzed. Finally, the visual map was generated by VOSviewer, Citespace and Scimago Graphica software.
Results A total of 24, 171 articles were included in this study, and the number of publications increased year by year from 2012 to 2022. The country with the largest number of published articles was the United States, and institution with the largest number of published papers was Alliance of French ResearchUniversities, the largest number of journals is Frontiers in microbiology, and the author with the largest number of literature was BONOMO R A. key woeds co-occurrence analysis showed that the research hotspots were antibiotic resistance, research and development of new antibiotics, management andtreatment of severe infection|cluster analysis showed that the research directions of antibiotics in the treatment of abdominal infection were mainly biofilm, antibiotic management, antibiotic resistance, pharmacokinetics, intestinal microbiota and Helicobacter pylori|tool, clostridium difficile, design and bacteriophage were the latest research frontiers in emergent analysis.
Conclusion The research popularity of antibiotics in the treatment of abdominal infection shows an overall upward trend in recent years. The resistance of antibiotics, the research and development of new antibiotics, the management and treatment of intestinal bacterial infection are the direction and focus of future research.
