Role of zinc preparations in improving myocardial enzymes and cardiac troponin I of children with pediatric rotavirus enteritis

  • Objective To explore the role of zinc preparations in improving myocardial enzymes and cardiac troponin I of children with pediatric rotavirus enteritis.
Methods A total of 150 children with pediatric rotavirus enteritis were divided into control group and observation group according to the matching principles of basic between-group characteristics, with 75 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine treatment, while the observation group was treated with routine treatment and zinc preparations (zinc gluconate), and both groups were treated for 7 days. The symptom improvement time, myocardial enzyme and cardiac troponin I levels, and clinical efficacy were compared between two groups.
Results The time for relieving diarrhea, vomiting and fever in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of creatine kinase, creatine kinase isozyme and lactate dehydrogenase in both groups decreased significantly, and these indexes in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the level of cardiac troponin I in both groups decreased significantly, and the cardiac troponin I level in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The total effective rate was 97.33% in the observation group, which was significantly higher than 85.33% in the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion Zinc preparations are effective in the treatment of children with pediatric rotavirus enteritis, which can quickly improve the symptoms and the levels of myocardial enzymes and cardiac protein troponin I.
