Bibliometric analysis of studies related to neurogenic intestinal dysfunction after spinal cord injury

  • Objective  To analyze the scientific knowledge map of neurogenic intestinal dysfunction after spinal cord injury by CiteSpace software.
Methods  Literature on neurogenic intestinal dysfunction after spinal cord injury was retrieved from the Web of Science Core database from January 1, 2000 to September 4, 2022. CiteSpace 5.7. R2 software was used to draw the knowledge map of author, institution and keywords respectively. The co-occurrence, clustering and time region of keywords were analyzed statistically, and the map was drawn.
Results  A total of 928 core articles of Web of Science were included. Foreign core scholars mainly include EMMANUEL A, KLAUS KROGH, K KROGH, and foreign core institutions include Aarhus Univ Hosp, Univ Michigan, Univ British Columbia and Univ Coll London Hosp. The key words with high frequency were spinal cord injury, constipation, management, dysfunction, quality of life, fecal incontinence, neurogenic bowel, neurogenic bladder dysfunction and neurogenic bowel dysfunction.
Conclusion  The research on neurogenic intestinal dysfunction after spinal cord injury has been carried out earlier and is relatively mature in foreign countries, while the field in China is still in its infancy. It is suggested to strengthen relevant research in China. This paper reviews the research frontiers and trends in this field, which has guiding significance for future research.
