Effect of comprehensive therapy of traditional Chinese medicine combined with characteristic nursing of traditional Chinese medicine in preventing and treating urinary retentionafter anorectal surgery

  • Objective To explore the effect of comprehensive therapy of traditional Chinese medicine combined with characteristic nursing of traditional Chinese medicine in prevention and treatment of urinary retentionin patients with anorectal disease after operation.
Methods A total of 120 patients with anorectal disease who underwent surgical treatment were selected as study objects, and were divided into two groups by random number table method. The patients in the control group (n=60) were given routine treatment and nursing intervention, and the patients in the observation group (n=60) were given comprehensive therapy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) combined with characteristic nursing of TCM on the basis of the above measures.Urodynamic indexes and TCM symptom scores were observed in the two groups before and after the intervention, the occurrence of urinary retention and urination were analyzed, and the pain degree, hospitalization time, and hospitalization expenses were recorded at each time point after operation.
Results The initial bladder volume ofthe observation group after treatment was smaller than that of the control group, and the maximum urine flow rate, maximum bladder volume, and maximum detrusor pressure were higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05).The scores of the main symptoms and secondary symptoms of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group after intervention (P < 0.05).The first urination time in the observation group was shorter, the bladder residual urine volume after the first urination and the incidence of urinary retention were lower than those of the control group, and the total amount of urination within two hours was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05).The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) of 12 hours after operation and 1 day, 3 days, and 5 days after operation in the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the length of hospital stay in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group (P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in hospitalization costs between the two groups (P>0.05).
Conclusion Comprehensive therapy combined with characteristic nursing of TCM can effectively prevent postoperative urinary retention, improve urodynamic indexes and clinical symptoms, relieve pain, and shorten hospitalization time of patients.
