Application of internet platform for home care of children with peripheral venous indwelling needle in outpatient and emergency infusion room

  •   Objective  To observe the effect of internet platform for home care of children with peripheral venous indwelling needle in outpatient and emergency infusion room.
Methods  A total of 1 000 children and their primary caregivers who received peripheral venous indwelling needles in the outpatient and emergency pediatric infusion room were selected as the research subjects, among whom 500 children before establishment of internet platform were included in control group, and another 500 children after establishment of tinternet platform were included in observation group. The incidence of complications related to intravenous indwelling needle during home care, the duration of indwelling, the caregivers'out-of-hospital cognition and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups.
Results  The total incidence of related complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the average indwelling time of intravenous indwelling needle was significantly longer than that of the control group (P < 0.01). The caregivers'out-of-hospital cognition level and nursing satisfaction were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).
Conclusion  Hospital-family cooperative extended nursing based on the internet platform can reduce the incidence of complications of intravenous indwelling needles in children, prolong its indwelling time, relieve the pain of repeated puncture in children, and improve nursing satisfaction.
