Metabolic associated polycystic ovarian syndrome and its theoretical basis

  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common cause of female infertility. Obesity and other metabolic diseases are closely related to PCOS. Based on clinical practice and genomics research results, PCOS combined with metabolic syndrome, a main subtype of PCOS, can be considered as a special manifestation of metabolic syndrome in female reproductive system, so it can be named as metabolic associated polycystic ovary syndrome (MAPs). The author firstly puts forward the concept of MAPS in innovation, which is conducive to change the current clinical practice and clinical research thinking that antiandrogen is considered as the main strategy, pays more emphasis on etiological treatment, and provides coordinated interventions on intestinal flora regulation as well as lifestyle intervention and so on. The concept of MAPS provides a new idea for the precise treatment of PCOS.
