Application of PK7300 automatic blood grouping analyzer in blood grouping test

  •   Objective  To analyze the application value of PK7300 automatic blood grouping analyzer in blood grouping identification.
Methods  Blood specimens from blood donors were analyzed by Olympus PK7300 blood grouping analyzer to identify the ABO and RhD blood groups. Samples with failed interpretation were retested by manual method. Abnormal blood types or initially screened as Rh-negative specimens were sent to the Blood Group Reference Laboratory of our center for further identification.
Results  A total of 402 649 blood specimens during 2016 to 2019 were analyzed. In sum, there were 399 841 (99.30%) samples successfully identified at the first time, and 2 808 (0.70%) failed. A total of 2 730 RhD samples were sent for further identification, including 2 644 (96.85%) Rh-negative samples, and 86 (3.15%) Rh-positive ones. There were 101 samples with ABO discrepancies, among which 44 were identified as normal ABO blood group, 26 as AB subtypes, and 31 contained MNSs-anti-M antibodies. Out of 24 samples of O-cell agglutination, 7 were identified as normal blood group, 14 contained MNSs-anti-M antibodies, 2 contained cold autoantibodies, and 1 contained warm autoantibodies.
Conclusion  PK7300 automatic blood grouping analyzer can determine a certain number of ABO subtypes and MNSs-anti-M antibodies, and has the features of simple operation, high automation, high accuracy, and less reagent consuming, which can improve the efficiency and quality of blood group identification, and is suitable for large-scale blood group screening.
