Individualized nutrition intervention for patients with gestational diabetes mellitus

  • Objective To investigate the effect of individualized nutrition intervention on blood glucose control and maternal as well as neonatal complications in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 210 patients with gestationaldiabetes were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 105 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with individualized nutrition intervention, while the control group was treated with routine clinical treatment. The clinical data, blood glucose control and incidence of complications were observed and compared between the two groups. Results After intervention, the fasting blood glucose level and the blood glucose level 2 h after meal in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The complication rates such as premature rupture of membranes and gestational hypertension in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Individualized nutrition intervention can effectively control the stability of blood glucose and reduce the incidence of complications in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus.
