Clinical study on trigeminal neuralgia treated by acupuncture combined with blood pricking therapy and cupping

  • Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with blood pricking therapy and cupping therapy in treating trigeminal neuralgia. Methods A total of 40 patients with trigeminal neuralgia were selected as study objects, and were divided into control group(n=20, pricking blood therapy plus cupping therapy)and observation group(n=20, acupuncture, pricking blood therapy plus cupping therapy). The clinical efficacy, Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)were compared. Results The total effective rate of clinical treatment was significantly higher in the observation group than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, VAS score and total PSQI score in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture, blood pricking therapy and cupping therapy has significant efficacy, which can reduce the pain degree and improve sleep quality of patients.
