Effect of western medicine combined with traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of sudden deafness

  • Objective To investigate the effectiveness of western medicine combined with traditional Chinese medicine with invigorating blood circulation and unblocking orifice in the treatment of sudden deafness. Methods A total of 68 sudden deafness patients were selected, and were divided into two groups according to computer random grouping method. Control group(n=34)was treated with basic treatment by western medicine, while the observation group(n=34)was additionally treated by traditional Chinese medicine with invigorating blood and unblocking orifice on the basis of western medicine. Pure tone audiometry(PTA)threshold, blood rheological indicators, curative effect and adverse reaction rates of two groups before and after treatment were compared. Results There were no significant differences in PTA threshold, hematokrit, fibrinogen and plasma viscosity between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05). After treatment, the PTA threshold of the observation group was(40.53±8.14)dB, which was lower than(48.75±9.26)dB in the control group(P<0.05). The values of hematokrit, fibrinogen and the plasma viscosity were(37.51±4.26)%,(3.85±0.82)g/L and(1.30±0.27)mPa·s, respectively, which were significantly lower than(44.58±4.13)%,(4.63±0.91)g/L, and(1.56±0.28)mPa·s, respectively of the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(91.18% vs. 70.59%, P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups showed no significant difference(P>0.05). Conclusion Basic treatment of western medicine combined with - traditional Chinese medicine with invigorating blood circulation and unblocking orifice in the treatment of sudden deafness can effectively promote hearing recovery, improve hemorheological indicators, and enhance the treatment efficacy and safety.
