Effect observation of biofeedback pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation therapy combined with percutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation in treatment of elderly women with stress urinary incontinence

  •   Objective  To observe the clinical effect of biofeedback pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation therapy combined with percutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation in the treatment of elderly women with stress urinary incontinence.
      Methods  A total of 90 elderly women with stress urinary incontinence were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with biofeedback pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation therapy, the observation group was treated with percutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation on the basis of the control group, and both groups were treated continuously for 4 weeks. Clinical efficacy, leakage of urine before and after treatment, score of Quality of Life for Incontinence (I-QOL) and electrical signal difference of pelvic floor muscle surface were compared between the two groups.
      Results  Total effective rate was 95.56% in the observation group, which was significantly higher than 73.33% in the control group (P < 0.05). The differences of urine leakage at 1 h before and after treatment, I-QOL, potential signals at rapid systolic state, tense systolic state and endurance contractile state in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05).
      Conclusion  Biofeedback pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation therapy combined with percutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation can strengthen the electrical signals of pelvic floor muscles in elderly women with stress urinary incontinence, promote the recovery of pelvic floor muscle function, and reduce urine leakage.
