Effect of McKenzie arthrolysis under brachial plexus block anesthesia on pain and shoulder mobility in patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis

  • Objective To investigate the effect of Mackenzie arthrolysis?under brachial plexus block anesthesia on pain and shoulder mobility in patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis. Methods Clinical materials of 80 patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis were analyzed retrospectively, and they were divided into two groups according to treatment plans, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with block method for pain point, while study group was treated with McKenzie's arthrolysis under brachial plexus block anesthesia. Efficacies, shoulder mobility before and after treatment, score of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)were compared between two groups. Results After one course of treatment, the total effective rate of short-term efficacy in the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P < 0.05). After 3 months of treatment, the total effective rate of long-term efficacy in the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P < 0.05). The VAS score of shoulder pain in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P < 0.05). After treatment, the shoulder mobility of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P < 0.05). Conclusion For patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis, McKinsey arthrolysis under brachial plexus block anesthesia on the basis of block treatment for pain point can further enhance the analgesic effect, improve shoulder mobility, and increase the short-term and long-term efficacies.
