Value of serum heat shock protein 90 in early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma

  •   Objective  To investigate the value of serum heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) in the early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods  Levels of serum HSP90 and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) were detected in 240 patients with HCC. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the sensitivity of HSP90 and AFP in diagnosis of HCC.
Results  The sensitivity and specificity of HSP90 in the diagnosis of HCC were 89.38% and 42.86%, respectively, while the sensitivity and specificity of serum AFP in the diagnosis of HCC were 71.68% and 64.28%, respectively, and there were significant differences between two indexes (P < 0.05).
Conclusion  HSP90 is an important serum marker to assist AFP in improving the diagnostic accuracy of HCC, and has a certain value in clinical application.
