Effect of octreotide combined with pantoprazole for elderly patients with peptic ulcer complicating upper gastrointestinal bleeding and its influence on coagulation function

  •   Objective  To observe the effect of octreotide combined with pantoprazole in the treatment of elderly patients with peptic ulcer complicating upper gastrointestinal bleeding and its effect on blood coagulation function.
Methods  A total of 100 elderly patients with peptic ulcer and upper gastrointestinal bleeding admitted to our hospital were divided into control group and experimental group. The control group(n=50) was treated with pantoprazole alone, while the experimental group(n=50) was treated with octreotide and pantoprazole. The prognosis of the two groups was compared.
Results  The effective hemostasis rate after 72 h of treatment, the total effective rate in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P < 0.05). Prothrombin time(PT), thrombin time(TT), activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT) at 72 hours after treatment in the experimental group were better than those in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).
Conclusion  Octreotide combined with pantoprazole has better efficacy than pantoprazole alone in the treatment of elderly peptic ulcer patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
