Efficiency observation of traditional Chinese and westernmedicines combined with fiberoptic bronchoscope flushing in treating patients with pulmonary abscess

  •   Objective  To observe the therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese and western medicine combined with fiberoptic bronchoscope flushing in treating patients with pulmonary abscess.
      Methods  A total of 120 patients with pulmonary abscess were randomly divided into combined treatment group (traditional Chinese and western medicine combined with fiberoptic bronchoscope flushing) and single treatment group (traditional Chinese and western medicine), with 60 cases in each group. The clinical efficacy, remission time of clinical symptoms and signs, hospitalization time, arterial blood gas analysis indexes, pulmonary function indexes and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.
      Results  The total effective rate of the combined treatment group was 93.3%, which was significantly higher than 76.7% of the single treatment group (P < 0.05). The recovery time of body temperature, relief time of cough and sputum, disappearance time of lung rale, disappearance time of pus cavity and hospitalization time in the combined treatment group were significantly shorter than those in the single treatment group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the blood oxygensaturation (SaO2), arterial partial pressure of oxygen p(O2), forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume at first second (FEV1) in both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment (P < 0.05), and the above indexes in the combined treatment group were significantly higher than the single treatment group (P < 0.05). The incidence rate of adverse reactions in the treatment group was 3.3%, which was significantly lower than 20.0% in the treatment group (P < 0.05).
      Conclusion  Traditional Chinese and western medicine combined with fiberoptic bronchoscope flushing is better than single application of traditional Chinese and western medicine in treatment of patients with pulmonary abscess.
