Effect analysis of standardized nursing process in prevention of incontinence-associated dermatitis in elderly patients with incontinence

  •   Objective  To explore the effect of standardized nursing process in prevention of incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) in elderly patients with incontinence.
Methods  A total of 120 elderly patients with incontinence were randomly divided into two groups, with 60 cases in each group. The control group was given routine incontinence nursing, while the observation group was given IAD standardized nursing process nursing. The occurrence of IAD and the change of assessment scores of IAD prevention knowledge were compared between the two groups.
Results  There were only 2 cases with mild IAD in the observation group, the incidence of IAD was 3.33%, which was lower than 15.00% in the control group(P < 0.05), the severity of IAD of two groups had no significant difference (P>0.05). After the standardized nursing process of IAD, the observation group had significantly higher assessment scores of IAD prevention knowledge of nurses than before nursing and the control group(P < 0.05).
Conclusion  Standardized IAD nursing process can not only reduce the risk of IAD in elderly patients with incontinence, but also improve the level of IAD prevention knowledge of nursing staff.
