Nursing for patients with soft tissue defect of lower limb treated by vacuum sealing drainage

  •   Objective  To investigate curative effect of vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) in the treatment of skin and soft tissue defects and its nursing.
Methods  The data of 16 patients with lower extremity skin and soft tissue defects were reviewed.
Results  All patients underwent careful nursing, and had VSD removed after 5 to 7 d of nursing. However, VSD negative pressure drainage was performed again because of the poor growth of granulation tissue in 4 cases. Finally, a total of 11 patients were treated with two staged debridement, and 5 cases with autologous skin grafting. After operation, the patients recovered well, and no postoperative complications such as ischemic contracture and scar were found.
Conclusion  The correct and effective nursing for patients with vacuum sealing drainage can significantly improve the success rate of treatment.
