Application of feed-forward control in reducing complications caused by indwelling needle in children

  •   Objective  To investigate the effect of feed-forward control on reducing the complications caused by indwelling needle in children.
Methods  Totally 562 children with indwelling needle were divided into control group and experimental group. The control group received routine nursing, while the experimental group were conducted with feed-forward control. Incidence of complications caused by intravenous infusion were compared between two groups.
Results  The success rate of puncture by nurses in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group, and the cases with complications such as catheter blockage, phlebitis, fluid exudation and exudation were significantly less than those in control group (P < 0.01).
Conclusion  The feed-forward control can effectively reduce the incidence of complications caused by indwelling needle in children.
