Application of azithromycin combined with simvastatin in treating patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease complicated with pulmonary hypertension

  •   Objective  To investigate the value of azithromycin combined with simvastatin in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated with pulmonary hypertension.
Methods  Eighty COPD patients with pulmonary hypertension were enrolled in our hospital. The control group with 40 patients were treated with simvastatin alone, and 40 patients in the observation group were treated with azithromycin combined with simvastatin. The treatment effects of the two groups were compared.
Results  After different treatments, the differences in blood oxygen partial pressure, blood oxygen saturation, 6-min walking distance, lung function indexes and pulmonary artery pressure levels were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the level of C-reactive protein in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion  Azithromycin combined with simvastatin is of great significance in improving the disease condition of patients with COPD complicated with pulmonary hypertension.
