Effect of early rehabilitation nursing on dysphagia patients caused by neurosurgery cranial nerve damage

  • Objective To investigate the early rehabilitation nursing on functional recovery and quality of life of dysphagia patients caused by neurosurgery cranial nerve damage. Methods A total of 98 dysphagia patients caused by neurosurgery cranial nerve damage in our hospital were randomly divided into study group (50 cases) and control group (48 cases). The control group received routine care for neurosurgery, and study group was given early rehabilitation nursing based on the control group.Kubota water experiment was used to evaluate severity of dysphagia. Results After treatment, there was significant different in swallowing function and incidence of aspiration pneumonia in two groups (P < 0.05);After the rehabilitation care, the total efficiency of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group((80% vs.41.67%,P <0.05);There was no significant difference in mRS score in two groups on admission, but significant difference was seen in mRS score after two weeks and three months of early rehabilitation care (P < 0.05).Conclusion Early rehabilitative care could effectively improve the swallowing function and quality of life, reduce the incidence of aspiration pneumonia for dysphagia caused by neurosurgery cranial nerve damage,so it is worthy of clinical practice.
