STUDY ON THE MECHANISM OF ACUPUNCTURE IN CHILD CEREBRAL PALSY

  • To summuarize the effect of acupuncture in cerebral palsy (CP) of childhood and inquire into its mechanism, we have collected the materials 195 cases of CP, age from 3 months to 11 years, di-viding them into two groups: Group A (observing group), 119 cases with acupunture, medicines therapy and functional exercises; Group B (control group), 76 cases, with the same treatments but without acupuncture. Part of the cases had received blood rheology measurement and brain SPECT inspection. The results effective rate was 73. 95% in Group A, 58. 24% in Group B (after standardization, test of sig-nificance: P 0.05); acupuncture has different influence in different age, treatment course and disease type. The results of blood rheology and brain SPECT inspection support the efficacy of our treatment (P 0. 05 or 0. 01 ). Thus the key of restoring cure form CP was in rearly diagnosis and early treatment. According the theory of systematology , acupuncture dsted to centra nervous system, blood circulation and other system through nervous and fluid adjustment. It could ameliorae blood and nutrition supply of focus in brain, so to promote the recovry of CP, especially in spastic type.
