Objective To observe the efficacy of modified Lichong Decoction in treating chronic pelvic pain of patients with sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease (SPID) differentiated as qi deficiency and blood stasis.
Methods A total of 80 patients with chronic pelvic pain of SPID differentiated as qi deficiency and blood stasis were randomly divided into study group and control group, with 40 cases in each group. The study group was treated with modified Lichong Decoction, while the control group was treated with routine western medicine. The curative effect, score of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptoms and pain score were compared between the two groups.
Results After treatment, the score of lower abdominal pain was (0.82±0.79) in the study group, which was significantly lower than (1.20±0.88) in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the scores of lumbosacral pain in the study group and the control group were (0.73±0.68) and (1.01±0.89) respectively, and there was a significant difference between two groups (P < 0.05). After treatment, the total scores of TCM symptoms and signs in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and those in the study group were significantly lower than the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the efficacy of the study group was significantly better than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The area under the curve of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was 0.819 in the study group and 0.702 in the control group, which indicated that the effect of the study group was better.
Conclusion Modified Lichong Decoction is effective in treating chronic pelvic pain of patients with SPID differentiated as qi deficiency and blood stasis, which can effectively alleviate the pain and improve the quality of life of patients.
