Effect of self-management combined with vocal training after vocal cord paralysis surgery

  •   Objective  To observe the application effect of self-management combined with vocal training in the rehabilitation period after vocal cord paralysis surgery.
Methods  A total of 84 patients with vocal cord paralysis treated by plasma arytenoidectomy were selected, and were randomly divided into routine group(n=42) and study group(n=42) according to random number table method. The routine group was given voice training during the postoperative rehabilitation, while the study group was given self-management combined with voice training, and both groups were intervened for 3 months. The compliance, intervention effect, maximum vocalation time, degree of voice disorder, consistency of perception and auditory sense and score of laryngoscopy analysis before and after intervention of two groups were compared.
Results  During intervention, the compliance score of in the study group was higher than that of the routine group (P < 0.05). After intervention, the longest phonation time of both groups was (13.38±2.09) s and (10.26±1.94) s, respectively, which was longer than intervention before, and the study group was longer than the routine group (P < 0.05). After intervention, the scores of degree of voice disorder, the consistency of auditory sense and perception and laryngoscope analysis in the two groups decreased, and were lower in the study group than those of the routine group (P < 0.05). The excellent and good rate of the study group was 76.19%, which was higher than 55.00% of the routine group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion  Self-management combined with vocal training can improve compliance of patients and enhance the rehabilitation effect in patients with vocal cord paralysis.
