Influencing factors of systemic inflammatory response syndrome after transurethral resection of prostate in elderly patients

  •   Objective  To analyze the influencing factors of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) after transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) in the elderly patients.
Methods  A total of 30 prostatic lesion patients without SIRS after TURP were selected as non-SIRS group, and 30 prostatic lesion patients with SIRS after TURP were selected as SIRS group. The baseline materials of the two groups were compared. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were used to explore the influencing factors of SIRS after TURP in patients with prostate lesions.
Results  There were significant differences in age, diabetes, positive result of preoperative urinary nitrite, indwelling time of catheter and operation time between the SIRS group and the non-SIRS group (P < 0.05). Univariate and multivariate regression analyses showed that older age, diabetes, positive result of preoperative urinary nitrite, long operation time and indwelling time of catheter more than 3 days were the influencing factors of SIRS after TURP (OR>1, P < 0.05).
Conclusion  The occurrence of SIRS after TURP in elderly patients is affected by age, diabetes, preoperative urinary nitrite, operation time and indwelling time of catheter. Targeted SIRS prevention and treatment measures can be carried out according to various risk factors.
