Abstract
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) mainly occurs in middle-aged and elderly men, and it is a chronic disease related to lower urinary tract symptoms. Due to poor clinical treatment effect and easy recurrence, it has seriously affected the quality of life of patients. In recent years, clinical researches on BPH have been widely carried out at home and abroad, but the related reviews on the pathogenesis of BPH were rare. In this paper, the related literatures at home and abroad were searched and summarized, and the research progress of pathogenesis of BPH was summarized from six aspects: sex hormone, polypeptide growth factor, inflammatory signal transduction, apoptosis, oxidative stress and smooth muscle, hoping to provide theoretical support for clinical medication and new drug development of BPH.
