Value of combined examination of Doppler ultrasound and CT in diagnosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma and cervical lymph node metastasis

  • Objective To analyze the clinical value of ultrasound combined with computed tomography(CT)examination in diagnosis of patients with papillary thyroid cancer and cervical lymph node metastasis. Methods A total of 80 patients with suspected thyroid papillary carcinoma were selected as study objects, CT and ultrasound examinations were performed for all patients. Taking results of postoperative pathological examination as gold standard in diagnosis, the accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of ultrasound examination, CT examination as well as CT and ultrasound examination in combination were analyzed. The effects of the three examination methods in diagnosis of cervical lymph node metastasis were analyzed. Results The diagnostic accuracy was 67.50% in CT examination, 66.25% in ultrasound examination, and 90.00% in combined examination. The total coincidence rate between CT and ultrasound examination showed no significant difference(P>0.05). The total coincidence rate of combined diagnosis was significantly higher than that of CT and ultrasound examination alone(P<0.05). Conclusion CT and ultrasound examination in combination has a higher efficacy in diagnosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma, and a higher coincidence rate in diagnosis of lymph node metastasis.
