Severe early warning nursing for children with hand, foot and mouth disease caused by enterovirus type 71 infections

  • Objective To explore the effect of early warning nursing on symptoms relief and complications in children with hand, foot and mouth disease caused by enterovirus type 71 infections. Methods A total of 80 children with hand, foot and mouth disease caused by enterovirus type 71 infections treated in the department of pediatrics in our hospital were selected and randomly divided into control group and observation group. The control group(n=40)adopted routine nursing, and the observation group(n=40)adopted severe early warning nursing on the basis of the control group. The time of clinical symptom improvement, hospital stay and complication rate were compared between the two groups. Results After intervention, the time of herpes disappearance, the antifebrile time, and the hospitalization time in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05). The complication rate after intervention in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Severe early warning nursing for children with hand, foot and mouth disease caused by enterovirus type 71 infections can shorten the improvement time of clinical symptoms and hospital stay, and reduce the complication rate.
