Objective To observe the clinical effect of iodoform gauze in the nursing of lower extremity venous ulceration.
Methods A total of 104 patients with venous ulceration of lower extremity treated by wound dressing change were divided into control group (61 cases) and observation group (43 cases). The control group was covered with vaseline gauze or sterilized gauze, while the observation group was covered with iodoform gauze. The ulcer healing rate, shrinkage rate of wound surface at 3 weeks of treatment, healing time were compared. The ulcer recurrence rate and recurrence time of ulcer were recorded after 6-month follow-up.
Results The healing rate, shrinkage rate of ulcer area and its healing time in the observation group were better than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The recurrence rate of ulcers in the two groups showed no significant difference (P>0.05). The recurrence time in the observation group was longer than that of the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion Iodoform gauze can effectively promote venous ulceration healing and delay recurrence, and it has the advantages of safety, effectiveness and low-price.
