Objective To explore the value of combined localization by CT-guided micro-spring coils and methylene blue in video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) for small pulmonary nodules.
Methods Combined localization by micro-springcoils and methylene blue in video-assisted thoracic surgery was performed in 47 patients(52 small pulmonary nodules). The succes rate, localization time and incidence of complications were analyzed.
Results The success rate of pulmonary nodule localization was 100.0%. The localization time was (16.5±4.3) min. There were 8 cases with asymptomatic small amount of pneumothorax, 6 cases with bleeding in puncture needle path, 4 cases with both complications above. There were no complications such as hemothorax and air embolism. All patients underwent VATS without conversion to thoracotomy.
Conclusion Combined localization by CT-guided micro-spring coils and methylene blue for pulmonary nodules before VATS has high accuracy and fewer complications.
