Effect of low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with acupoint application for postpartum urinary retention

  •   Objective  To explore the effect of low frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with acupoint application on postpartum urinary retention.
Methods  A total of 56 patients with urinary retention were randomly divided into study group (n=28) and control group (n=28). The control group was treated with traditional induced urination, and the study group was treated with low frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with acupoint application. The urination and clinical efficacy of pregnant women in both groups were observed.
Results  The total effective rate in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group (96.43% vs.78.57%, P < 0.05), and the time to first urination in the study group was significantly shorter, and the residual urine volume was significantly less than that in the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion  Low frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with acupoint application has better efficacy, which can effectively promote urination, shorten urination time, and promote urine emptying.
