Abstract:
Objective To observe the curative effect of Chinese herbal ointment and massage in the treatment of lumbago and back pain in senile osteoporosis patients.
Methods A total of 60 patients were randomly divided into control group and observation group according to random number table method, with 30 cases per group. The control group was given routine nursing measures, and the observation group was given Chinese medicine ointment rubbing therapy on the basis of routine nursing, ointment rubbing was performed once a day, 15 min each time for 12 d. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scpre, TCM Symptom Scale score, Self-care Ability Scale score before and after treatment and total effective rate in the two groups were compared.
Results Compared with the control group, VAS scores after 6 and 12 days of treatment in the observation group were lower, symptom scores of the five dimensions including limb pain, back pain, lower limb cramps, difficulty in carrying heavy objects and heel pain in the TCM Symptom Scale all decreased, while the Self-care Ability Scale score increased(P < 0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).
Conclusion Chinese herbal ointment and rub therapy can relieve lumbago and back pain in senile osteoporosis patients, and improve the quality of life.
