Abstract:
Objective To compare the influence of levofloxacin and gatifloxacin on the positive result of conjunctival sac bacteria, corneal fluorescein staining (FLS) score and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) score in patients with cataract during perioperative period.
Methods A total of 104 patients with cataract surgery from May 2019 to June 2021 were selected as research objects, and were randomly divided into observation group (treated with gatifloxacin) and control group (treated with levofloxacin), with 52 cases in each group. Positive rate of bacterial culture was compared between two group at the time points of 3 days after dripping antibacterial ophthalmic before surgery (T1) and 7 days after dripping antibacterial ophthalmic after operation (T2); the score of clinical symptoms, FLS score, SWLS score, levels of inflammatory factorsinterleukin-8 (IL-8), soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between two groups.
Results The positive rates of bacterial culture at T1 and T2 in the observation group were 25.00%(13/52) and 1.92%(1/52) respectively, which were significantly lower than 44.23%(23/52) and 15.38%(8/52) in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the score of clinical symptoms, FLS score and levels of IL-8, sICAM-1 and TNF-α in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, while the SWLS score was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The incidence of adversereactions in the observation group was 3.85%, which was significantly lower than 26.92% in the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion Gatifloxacin is better than levofloxacinin in antibacterial effect, which can reduce the positive rate of bacterial culture, improve clinical symptoms, and has higher safety.
