Abstract:
Objective To analyze the characteristics of emergency patients during the outbreak of Delta virus and treatment strategies of the hospital.
Methods The medical record information of emergency patients in August 2021, August 2020 and August 2019 and those admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital were retrieved through the hospital medical record system, and the characteristics of emergency patients and the effects of hospital treatment strategies were analyzed and evaluated.
Results In August 2019, there was 19 490 consulting patients, including 10 182 times in males and 9 308 times in females. In August 2020, there was 16 872 consulting patients, including 8 903 males and 7 969 females. In August 2021, there was a total of 12 263 consulted patients, including 6 544 times in males and 5 719 times in females. There was no significant difference in gender distribution between emergency patients in August 2021 and those in August 2019, August 2020 (P>0.05). In the comparison of the reasons for emergency surgical visits between August 2021 and August 2019, August 2020, the rate of visits due to trauma decreased significantly and the rate of visits due to urinary calculi increased significantly (P < 0.05). A total of 277 patients were treated in the isolation ward in August 2021, and all the patients were safely transferred to the specialized ward after negative results of three consecutive testing for nucleic acid.
Conclusion During the outbreak of Delta virus in August 2021, the number of patients in each emergency department decrease when compared with the same period in 2019 and 2020. In the primary process of the emergency, the hospital must strictly comply with the standardized pre-inspection and triage process, and establish isolation wards after emergency consultation in order to minimize the risk of nosocomial infection of Coronavirus Disease 2019.
