Care transitional intervention programs for premature infants with very low and ultra-low birth weight

    Abstract:
Objective  To explore the effects of care transitional intervention programs on the growth and development indexes and neuropsychological development of premature infants with very low and ultra-low birth weight.
Methods  Totally 100 premature infants with very low and ultra-low birth weight were selected as the research objects. The questionnaire was used to analyze the transitional nursing needs of caregivers and the transitional nursing intervention scheme was established. The infants were randomly divided into observation group (routine nursing plus care transitional intervention scheme) and control group (routine nursing), with 50 cases in each group. The growth and development indexes and neuropsychological development indexes were compared between the two groups.
Results  After intervention, the body mass, body length and head circumference of preterm infants were significantly higher than those before the intervention in both groups, and the body mass, body length and head circumference after intervention in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Three months after intervention, the scores of neuropsychological development indexes of preterm infants in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion  Care transitional intervention programs can effectively improve the growth and development indicators and neuropsychological development in preterm infants with very low and ultra-low birth weight.
