Abstract:
Among the numerous complications of chronic kidney disease (CKD), the prevalence of protein energy wasting (PEW) is high, and it can occur in all stages of CKD. PEW significantly affects the quality of life of patients with CKD and is strongly associated with poor outcomes. Therefore, early diagnosis and timely intervention of PEW are of great significance for the prognosis of patients with CKD. In this paper, the research progress on CKD complicated with PEW in recent years is reviewed from the aspects of etiology, pathogenesis and prevention and treatment strategies of PEW.
