Abstract:
Objective To explore the effects of Kangfuxin Liquid combined with mesalazine on therapeutic effect, adverse reactions and inflammatory reactions in elderly patients with ulcerative colitis.
Methods A total of 106 elderly patients with ulcerative colitis were selected as study objects, and were divided into two groups by random number table method. The control group(
n=53)was treated with conventional symptomatic treatment and mesalazine, and the study group(
n=53)was treated with Kangfuxin Liquid on basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy, adverse reactions, levels of inflammatory factors [hypersensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-23(IL-23)and interleukin-17(IL-17)] before and after treatment, and the recurrence of the disease within 6 months were compared between the two groups.
Results The total effective rate of the study group was 96.23%, which was significantly higher than 83.02%of the control group(
P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(
P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of hs-CRP, TNF-α, IL-23 and IL-17 in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group(
P<0.01). The recurrence rate of the study group within 6 months was 7.55%, which was significantly lower than 22.64% of the control group(
P<0.05).
Conclusion Kangfuxin Liquid combined with mesalazine is effective, safe and reliable in the treatment of elderly patients with ulcerative colitis, and can effectively relieve the inflammatory response, and reduce the re-occurrence rate.
