Abstract:
Objective To observe the effect of Naolisu Decoction combined with acupuncture at Baihui and Yongquan points in treatment of patients with senile dementia.
Methods A total of 60 patients with senile dementia were selected and randomly divided into control group and study group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine, and the study group was treated with Naolisu Decoction combined with acupuncture at Baihui and Yongquan points. The clinical efficacy, the incidence of adverse events, Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(MoCA)score and Barthel index score before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.
Results The total effective rate of the study group was 93.33%, which was significantly higher than 73.33% in the control group(
P<0.05). There were no significant differences in MoCA score and Barthel index score between the two groups before treatment(
P>0.05). After treatment, MoCA score and Barthel index score in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group(
P<0.05). The incidence of adverse events in the study group was 10.00%, which was significantly lower than 33.33% in the control group(
P<0.05).
Conclusion Naolisu Decoction combined with acupuncture at Baihui and Yongquan points is effective in treating patients with senile dementia, which can significantly improve patients' cognitive declines, and it has a high safety.
