Values of Glasgow Coma Scale, muscle strength level and urine volume in predicting progression of complicated hyponatremia in patients with consciousness disorder

    Abstract:
Objective  To explore the values of Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), muscle strength level and urine volume in predicting the progression of complicated hyponatremia in patients with consciousness disorder.
Methods  Totally 80 consciousness disorder patients with complicated hyponatremia in department of neurosurgery were selected, and changes of GCS score, muscle strength level, urine volume and vital signs before and after the disease progression were compared.
Results  When hyponatremia occurred in patients with simple disturbance of consciousness, the GCS score, muscle strength level and urine volume decreased significantly (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in heart rate and blood pressure before and after the disease progression (P > 0.05).
Conclusion  When hyponatremia occurs in the progression of simple disturbance of consciousness, the GCS score, muscle strength level and urine volume are of great value in predicting consciousness disorder complicated with hyponatremia.
