Objective  To explore the effect of modified Bazhen Decoction combined with chemotherapy for patients with gastric cancer after radical gastrectomy and its impact on quality of life.

  Methods  A total of 68 patients with gastric cancer who underwent radical gastrectomy in our hospital were divided into control group (34 cases) and observation group (34 cases). The control group was treated with conventional chemotherapy, while the observation group was treated with modified Bazhen Decoction on the basis of conventional chemotherapy. The short-term clinical efficacy, improvement of Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) scores and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.

  Results  The progress rate, the stability rate, the partial remission rate, the complete remission rate and short-term total effective rate in the observation group were higher than that in the control group(P < 0.05). The improvement rate in the observation group was higher, and deterioration rate was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05).

  Conclusion  Modified Bazhen Decoction combined with chemotherapy for patients with gastric cancer after radical operation has significant short-term effect, which can effectively improve the quality of life.
